  • May provide advocacy services on behalf of a client or group of clients

Administration and agency duties

  • Maintain accurate files, case records and data as required by the Firm
  • Prepare correspondence as required
  • Other duties as required

Statement of Qualifications and Education

Completion of relevant educational requirements of your professional field.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk factors and risk assessment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resources and services available to clients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional standards and ethical guidelines of professional conduct
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and struggles experienced by people in the community


  • Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated skills in working with diverse groups of people
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis and assessment of individual and systemic issues impacting clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex sensitive issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within team/program guidelines, and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain respectful, collaborative and professional approach/standards with clients and colleagues
  • Assess client need for and recommend when appropriate additional resources or multi-disciplinary support for client
  • Support clients to identify short and long term goals & strategies for goal achievement.
  • Utilize recognized interventions to support client in the achievement of established goals
  • Advocate with and on behalf of client as required
  • Participate in training to ensure ongoing development of skills and abilities – including personal and professional development educational opportunities.
  • Ensure both electronic and physical client files remain current within established guidelines/policies & procedures.
  • Ensure timely submission of all administrative work in accordance with Legal Prep practices
  • Collaborate and network with community agencies/companies as appropriate and as requested by the Firm
  • Ensure familiarity with all pertinent legislation
  • Follow safe work practices as established by the Firm, the program and all appropriate laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues in elderly and family life cycles
  • Availability and ability to work flexible hour as needed
  • May involve local travel
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license when applicable.


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, other language skills are an asset and very welcome!

Working Conditions

  • Client services are provided in private confidential office space. Limited travel may be required relevant to the location of the services provided.

Certification/Licensing/Specialized Training

  • Must be a member in good standing with a regulated health college as per current standards for practicing social work, counselling, and/or psychotherapy (i.e. CRPO, OCSWSSW)
